Mumbai, the winners of the Ranji Trophy, will play Rest of India in the Irani Cup in Lucknow on Saturday. This will be all-rounder Shardul Thakur’s first-class cricket match since surgery. Ajinkya Rahane will captain Mumbai.
All of the best players, including Tanush Kotian, Shams Mulani, Shreyas Iyer, and Musheer Khan, are expected to participate in the match.
PTI reports that India’s T20 captain, Suryakumar Yadav, and all-rounder Shivam Dube, who are automatic selections for the Indian T20 squad, will not be participating in the Irani Cup since they have to report to Gwalior on October 3 in preparation for the T20I series that begins on October 6.
