October 16, Ningbo, China (IANS): Due to health concerns, Zheng Qinwen, a Chinese player,

has withdrawn from the current WTA Ningbo Tennis Open.

Starting on October 14, the Ningbo Tennis Open, a WTA 500 event, attracted a number of top-ranked players as its main lineup.

In addition to getting a sick, I have some injuries from competing in the Wuhan Open and the China Open.

Next year, I want to go back and compete in Ningbo. According to Xinhua, Paris Olympic winner Zheng issued a statement saying, “I sincerely apologise for my withdrawal.”

In the first round, the top four seeds were given a bye, per the schedule. Zheng was initially slated to face the victor of the match between Czech player Karolina Muchova and Australian player Olivia Gadecki in the second round as the second seed.

Zheng’s historic run at the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris was the high point of her season.

Zheng won China’s first Olympic singles gold medal there after defeating World No. 1 Iga Swiatek in the quarterfinals.

Following her Olympic success, she advanced to the US Open quarterfinals for the second time in a row,

Riyadh will automatically be open to the top seven players in the PIF Race to the WTA Finals.

At number nine on the Race Leaderboard, the Chinese started their Asian swing.

With two weeks left in the regular season, she jumped into the seventh spot, behind Wuhan.
