DRS Blunder-Rishabh Pant Trolls Rohit Sharma
Although Rohit Sharma is one of the best leaders in the world of cricket, he hasn’t always made the right decisions with DRS. Despite being urged to go upstairs by wicketkeeper Rishabh Pant, Rohit declined to challenge a caught-behind verdict on Day 4 of the first Test match against Bangladesh in Chennai. The India skipper had a face-palm moment when he saw the replay of the incident, especially with Pant standing next to him, even though Rohit had held his position.
The incident happened in the 62nd over of the innings, with India’s Ravichandran Ashwin facing Bangladesh’s Hasan Mahmud. The ball hit the hitter on the glove and bounced steeply before Pant retrieved it after it had spun quite a bit.
But it appeared as though the ball had struck the forearm before hitting the keeper’s gloves. Pant urged Rohit to take DRS, but Rohit declined. Replays, however, later revealed that the ball had only barely made contact with the glove. Therefore, the umpire would have raised his finger if the India captain had asked for a review.
Pant even made fun of captain Rohit, telling him that since the batter was out, he ought to at least glance at the replay as it was displayed on the enormous screen.
Pant could be heard telling Rohit, “Out tha, abe yaar replay dekh to lo (it was out, at least see the replay).”
However, the Indian team proved that the choice had not come back to haunt them, as they won handily by 280 runs to take a 1-0 lead in the series.
After the game, Rohit showered Pant with compliments for his outstanding return to Test cricket following a more than 600-day absence from the competition.”He’s experienced some incredibly trying moments. It was amazing to see how he handled himself throughout those trying moments. At the post-match presentation ceremony, Rohit stated, “This is the format he loves the most.
