“It’s a goal we’ve been expecting from Evanilson,” said Bournemouth assistant manager Tommy Elphick, who was filling in for banned manager Andoni Iraola.
“He is quite bright and has such cute runs. We haven’t found him enough, so I’m happy for him.
Semenyo has so far filled Solanke’s void, with his ferocious drive finding the bottom corner for his third goal in six Premier League outings this season.
Southampton’s possession dominance yielded little points.
Russell Martin’s men are second from bottom, with only one point from their first six games.
There was no aggressiveness or boldness. On the pitch, they were scanning the area and acting defensively. I didn’t enjoy it one bit. “They showed fight in the second half, but it was too late.”
Last season, all three promoted teams were demoted from the Premier League for the first time since 1997/98.
The early data of this season also suggests that the gap between the Championship and the top division is becoming increasingly tough to bridge for teams on the rise.
