At the Mill Valley regionals, the senior doubles team, which includes Stella Platt and Marissa Hoelting, places sixth and advances to the state championship.

On Thursday, October 11, girls tennis participated in regional competitions. The meet took place at the school and went on all day. For some, this meet marked the end of their season, but for others, senior Stella Platt and her doubles partner, senior Marissa Hoelting, qualified for state.

Since this was senior Audri Brizendine’s first time competing in regionals, she approached the match with a different mindset than she usually does.

“I was a little anxious because this was my first time attending regionals and I wasn’t sure what to anticipate, but I decided to just go all out because it was my final performance,” Brizendine said.

Senior Stella Platt expresses her feelings following her state qualification with.

“With my partner, I qualified for state, so I was pretty excited,” Platt said.

Brizendine also learned some valuable lessons from her regional result.

“It was incredibly nice to play her because my last match was against the top seed. I’m pleased with how the season finished, even though I lost.

Platt will start the process of preparing for state because her season is not yet complete.

Brizendine considers her season’s conclusion and her overall tennis experience.

“Overall, I believe I developed a lot this season, was incredibly resilient, learned a lot from my coaches, and made a ton of wonderful friendships over the four years. I will miss it.”
