For Valarie Allman, the two-time Olympic champion in women’s discus throwing from the United States, life is full of fervor, tenacity, and a strong relationship with her cherished Australian Shepherd.
The 29-year-old athlete, who has dominated the sports world with her strong throws, also finds happiness and comfort in the modest company of her dog, whom she loves dearly.
“She’s a great companion,” Valarie observed, referring to her beloved pet. In the middle of a hectic life, Valarie finds solace in her dog, who is more than just a furry companion. “I often take my pet dog for walks despite my hectic schedule. When I’m mentally recuperating from a long day of work, spending time with my beloved dog brings me great joy.
Valarie Allman proudly presented her two Olympic gold medals, which she earned in back-to-back games while in Delhi as an international brand ambassador for the 2024 Vedanta Delhi Half Marathon. “This is my dream,” she said, beaming with pride. I’m really happy to show them.” Her personal best throw of 71.46 meters in San Diego, California, in 2022 served as a testament to her perseverance on her path to Olympic gold.
Valarie, who is always grounded and looks great in black trousers and white sneakers, talked openly about the difficulties she has had outside of the discus arena. “Recovery was the most important aspect of my preparation for winning back-to-back gold medals in the Olympic Games, but there is no magic. Keeping the body and mind in harmony was the main goal.
Her journey to Olympic success was not an easy one, particularly for Paris 2024. “It was incredibly difficult to maintain a high standard,” she said.
But Valarie’s path has involved more than just her sporting accomplishments. Her story is further complicated by her relationship with Zeb Sion, her longtime coach. “He is my pillar of support! She revealed their close relationship, which dates back to high school, when she added, “He has inspired me and kept me going from one step to another.”
The path ahead is clear for Valarie Allman. Her goal is to win gold in her home country at the 2028 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles. “Winning a medal at the 2028 Los Angeles Games will be more important for me,” she stated. Her dog will accompany her at every turn as she pursues her goal of winning the 2025 Tokyo World Championships.
