CAIRO:
Attackers affiliated with Iran, the Houthi terrorists, attacked a tanker flying the flag of Liberia twice on Thursday morning in the Red Sea using missiles and drones.

According to British maritime security company Ambrey, the Olympic Spirit was struck approximately 135 kilometers southwest of the Yemeni town of Hodeidah.

The tanker was hit on its starboard side as it was traveling from Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, to Muscat, Oman. According to Ambrey, the projectile struck the bridge and just slightly damaged it.

Two further rounds are said to have exploded within 500 meters of the ship’s port side four hours later.

The Olympic Spirit’s skipper reported no fires or casualties, according to a statement from the United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations department.

The harm is not severe. Despite a few mechanical problems, the ship is seaworthy and is still traveling, according to a maritime security source. “[The crew members] are all safe.”

Following its next port of call, the ship is currently sailing, according to the British marine service.

Later on Thursday, the Houthi organization in Yemen, which is connected with Iran, announced that it had launched 11 ballistic missiles and two drones at the Olympic Spirit.

It claimed that as part of its attacks on international commerce over Israel’s conflict in Gaza, it had also used a winged missile to strike a ship in the Indian Ocean that it recognized as the St. John.

Since November, Houthi fighters in Yemen have attacked around 100 ships trying to cross the Red Sea, and they claim to be acting in solidarity.
