October 9, New Delhi (IANS): The Half Marathon is set for October 20. American discus thrower Valarie Allman, who won gold medals at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics (held in 2021) and the 2024 Paris Olympics, has been chosen the international event ambassador.
With her incredible 69.50-meter throw in Paris, Allman broke the previous American record and solidified her place among the world’s best discus throwers. Her Olympic career started at the Tokyo 2020 Games, where she won a gold medal with a strong 68.98-meter first throw.

On October 20, Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium will host the World Athletics Gold Label Road Race, the Delhi Half Marathon, which has a USD 260,000 prize fund.
The leaders of the elte race will be Kenya’s Peres Jepchirchir, the former Half-Marathon World record holder, and Uganda’s Joshua Cheptegei.

Leading the women’s contingent, Jepchirchir set a world mark for the fastest time for women in the marathon when she won the London Marathon in 2024, clocking in at 2:16:16. She was also victorious in the Boston and New York City marathons in 2022 and 2021.
