Later this year, the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park will be turned up to four London districts.

The east London park and its environs have been the focus of development coordination for 12 years by the London Legacy Development Corporation (LLDC).

The councils of Newham, Hackney, Tower Hamlets, and Waltham Forest, all of which have boundaries inside the park, will receive the majority of its authority, including planning, on December 1.

LLDC CEO Lyn Garner expressed her pride in the organization’s history.

In addition to thousands of new residences, the neighborhood has seen the construction of new cultural and athletic facilities like the London College of Fashion and the London Stadium.
The LLDC will finish up current housing projects throughout the course of the following five years before

The park generates “economic return” for London, according to Ms. Garner, who will step aside when the transition takes place.

She said that it is the biggest public sector investment in higher education, the arts, and culture this nation has seen since, ironically, the Great Exhibition in 1851.

According to Ms. Garner, there were a “huge number of local jobs” in the park, with about 70% of the positions being filled.

Another new location is the dance theater Sadler’s Wells East, which is scheduled to open in February of next year.

It is located in the East Bank, a brand-new cultural district that also houses the V&A museum and the London College of Fashion’s east London locations.

“We have a target to ensure that at least 50% of the new jobs that we have in this new building will go to local people from the surrounding boroughs,

” stated Britannia Morton, executive director of Sadler’s Wells. We put ‘You are welcome’ over the door to make the place accessible, and we mean it.We want to achieve this, in part, by offering 50% of the seats for £25 or less.

Numerous locals informed BBC London that since construction started, the area has greatly improved.
The park “looked nicer” after the Olympics, according to a local, but “years ago it used to be a bit rubbish.”
“Now everything is safer,

” said another man. There are more families and it’s more residential.
Additionally, a local businesswoman reported that she had “seen a difference” in the number of foreign tourists visiting the region.

There are concerns over the housing that has been constructed, despite the fact that since 2012, almost 12,000 dwellings have been constructed in and surrounding the park.

“Newham borough is one of the legacy boroughs and has one of the highest levels of housing need in England,” stated Professor Penny Bernstock of the University of East London’s Housing Unit.

“What we’ve built on the park hasn’t met those needs, and presently, Newham has a massive housing crisis.” We won the Olympics because we planned to address the severe levels of deprivation in the area.

Ms. Garner stated: “It’s really tricky for affordable housing in the financial environment that we face.”We’ve always had as many cheap housing units as possible that comply with the municipal policy,

” she said, adding that “the athletes village was transformed 50% low rent, 50% private rent.”
