On the opening day of the second Test match between India and Bangladesh in Kanpur on Friday, a well-known fan of the Bangladesh cricket team—who happens to be a tiger—had to be admitted to the hospital.
Robi, who is frequently seen on television waving a Bangladeshi flag while sporting tiger makeup on his face, was carried out of Green Park Stadium while he was in stand C. Initially, he reported the event as a physical assault.
But later, in a statement from his hospital bed, he said he was just feeling under the weather and that the local police had provided him with the help he needed.
Robi became unwell throughout the play, according to an official statement from the Uttar Pradesh Police.
The Bangladeshi fan has a history of making outrageous claims, and he enjoys “talking ill about India,” according to a RevSportz report. He was even dubbed a sensationalist by a BCCI insider.
Though he acknowledged he didn’t understand a word of Tamil, he made accusations about the local fans ‘abusing him’ during the first Test in Chennai. Additionally, he was charged with doing a Facebook live from the M Chidambaram Stadium stands, which is against the rules according to the authorities.
According to the story, many Bangladeshi journalists were skeptical of his claims, with one reporter from the news outlet Prothom Alo even saying this:
Robi received emergency medical attention, according to Abhishek Pandey, ACP (Kalyanpur), who also emphasized that he had not been beaten as had been claimed in earlier reports.
“During the Test match between India and Bangladesh, one of the spectators whose name is Tiger, suddenly fell ill,” said the cop.
He was taken to the medical team by the police as soon as he became ill and was treated there. He is presently doing well, and he has a liaison officer assigned to him in case he needs assistance.
“There have been unfounded reports of violence; there was no such occurrence involving him. We have been able to gather that he may have fallen,” he continued.
