The top three batsmen with the most Test runs among active cricketers are Joe Root of England, Australia’s Steve Smith, and India’s Virat Kohli. At the top of the rankings with 12,402 runs, Root is followed by Smith (9685 runs) and Kohli (8871 runs).
Many pundits and former players believe that Virat, Smith, and Root—hailed as the next greats of Test cricket—will surpass Tendulkar’s record for most runs scored in the format.
Smith and Kohli’s performance in Test cricket has drastically declined, whereas Root’s is still excellent. In the midst of the two players’ continued bad form, former Australia player Brad Hogg has made a shocking assessment of Kohli.
