NEW DELHI: Manu Bhaker, an Olympic shooter from India, declared that she will start training again in November and compete in shooting again the next year.
Ahead of the International Shooting Sport Federation (ISSF) World Cup Final, Bhaker spoke to the media in Delhi and talked about her dedication to her sport and her excitement for the event.
“I might return next year for the match and for training in November.”
I’ll pay close attention to every activity. However, since I fire a pistol, my focus will be on the pistol, 25-meter, and 10-meter events,” she said.

Bhaker disclosed that she and her instructor, Jaspal Rana, decided to take a vacation from shooting in order to treat the injuries she had received from pistol recoil.
Bhaker became the first Indian woman shooter to earn an Olympic medal at the just finished Paris Olympics, where she placed third in the women’s individual 10m air pistol competition.
Together with Sarabjot Singh, she followed this accomplishment with another bronze in the mixed-team competition, which was a major turning point for Indian shooting sports.
Bhaker finished fourth in the women’s 25-meter pistol event, almost missing out on a remarkable third medal, but her performances have cemented her place as a prominent figure in Indian sports.
As she thought back on her vacation, Bhaker was thankful for the chance to spend more time with her family. “I’m glad I had the opportunity to see my family after a lengthy absence. I love eating home-cooked meals,” she said.
Regarding the ISSF World Cup Final, Bhaker thinks it provides a great stage for up-and-coming players.
