The Delhi High Court, which is considering a petition about the federation’s alleged violations of the Sports Code, has ordered that the All India Tennis Association (AITA) not publicly announce the results of its unopposed election of new office bearers on Saturday.

There was only one nomination received by the Returning Officer for each office, hence there was no need for voting during the election that the AITA was scheduled to hold at its Annual General Meeting (AGM).

The National Tennis Federation chose eight vice presidents, four joint secretaries, and ten executive members in addition to a new president, secretary general, and treasurer.

It has been discovered that after first submitting their nominations for the presidency, Rohit Rajpal and another candidate—India’s non-playing Davis—later

Players from India, Somdev Devvarman and Purav Raja, had requested a postponement of the AITA elections, citing violations by the federation of the Sports Code and the ineligibility of several of the contenders.

The Court requested that AITA and the Sports Ministry file their responses, but it did not postpone the polls.

The Election Officer should place the results in a sealed cover; this will prevent the results from being published, the Court ordered.

On October 14, the subject will be heard.

Up until then, the federation work will be handled collaboratively by the departing staff and the new team.
