Despite delivering a crisp one-handed stunner in the cover region to eliminate Bangladesh dangerman Litton Das on Day 5 of the second Test against Bangladesh, Rohit Sharma was not named ‘Impact Fielder of the Series’.

competed against Yashasvi Jaiswal, Mohammed Siraj, and KL Rahul for the prize, which was presented by India’s fielding coach T Dilip. Rohit’s one-handed catch in the Kanpur Test earned praise from the Indian cricketing fraternity,

and the effort became a hot issue among commentators and specialists. Despite Dilip’s selection of two medal winners, it was insufficient to earn the impact fielder award.

Dilip praised Rohit as “reliable as a Swiss watch” in his post-series address to the players in the dressing room, but the India skipper was not one of the top two picks for the fielding coach.

T Dilip named Jaiswal and Siraj as equal winners.  appeared shocked upon hearing the winners’ names.

Rohit and Siraj also made one-handed catches on Day 5 of the Kanpur Test, when Ashwin dismissed Bangladesh all-rounder Shakib al Hasan. Siraj,

on the other hand, initially miscalculated the ball’s direction before recovering and diving backwards to make a one-handed catch. Throughout the series, Jaiswal and Rahul made some excellent slip catches.

However, the India coach chose Siraj and Jaiswal as the victors over Rahul and Rohit.

In the second Test, India won by 7 wickets to finish the series 2-0. Despite rain washing out the contest for more than two and a half days, Rohit’s men delivered an exceptional exhibition of all-round cricket to achieve a clean sweep.

With the win, India has improved their position at the top of the World Test Championship points table, putting them one step closer to the finals.
